An avenue of 49 plane trees designated "Arbres Remarquable de France". This bucolic walkway is located on the banks of one of the branches of the Ill called "Muhlbach", because a mill used its current. It can be accessed from Rue de la Digue in Benfeld, starting just after the mill, near the soccer stadium clubhouse, and continuing into Huttenheim.
These majestic plane trees, 13 meters high and over 200 years old, with their rare species and original shape, are a real asset for the preservation of biodiversity and landscapes. They are home to mammals and birds, and serve as a biological reservoir for a variety of insects that come to live inside them. The path was apparently laid out in the 19th century by the spinning company in Huttenheim, to enable Benfeld workers to get to the factory quickly and walk in the shade of the trees.
