This monument is one of the oldest churches in the Meuse Valley; if it has kept from its Carolingian foundation its cross plan of a Romanesque basilica, it is now very composite: from the pre-Romanesque chevet to the 18th century facade. (Note a 3-degree change of axis between the choir and the transept on the one hand, and the nave on the other).
