Spectacle - Nonobstant - Association W

To commit oneself entirely to a quest for balance.

In this performance, anything seems possible: both ascent and descent, the quest for lightness and the play with gravity. For “Nonobstant” is a challenge: that of the instability of the ground as a starting point.

A lunar landscape, a dancer-acrobat skilled at handstands: the body is put to the test. He clings on to stay upright, contorts himself, and flips from right side up to upside down. The images appear in flashes, between leaps and landings, unfolding to a fluid score, delicately punctuated by the melody of the harpsichord.

In this solo for a dancer and a soft floor, Jean-Baptiste André returns to handstands, which form the foundation of his practice. Combined with dance, they serve as the building blocks of a surprising choreographic performance.
