La giornata

It’s midday and it’s shaping up to be a very special day: we invite you to join us for a cinema screening that’s 100 per cent free of images and screens!
For a decade now, Barbès 35 has been bringing the 7th Art to the stage. The concept? Following a joyful writing process, the actors both perform and reinterpret a film drawn from their ideal film library. Whether it’s a film you’ve seen time and time again or one you’ve simply never seen before, the same magic works its spell on the audience. Rome, 1938. In a building deserted by its residents, who have gone to celebrate a visit by Hitler, two lonely souls meet… Taking on the roles in turn of the legendary Marcello Mastroianni and Sofia Loren, the film’s characters and their own slightly hammy duo, Cendre Chassanne and Jean-Baptiste Gillet now present their take on Ettore Scola’s masterpiece… Irreverent yet faithful, caustic and biting, two hearty laughers in the face of tragedy!
