THÉÂTRE : Jane Eyre

As part of the ‘Ici & Là’ programme, the Nouveau Théâtre de Besançon presents a sensitive and contemporary adaptation of one of the greatest classics of English literature: Charlotte Brontë’s *Jane Eyre*. An independent-minded orphan, Jane Eyre refuses to bow to the conventions of her time. Her journey, marked by trials, encounters and a quest for freedom, makes her a profoundly modern heroine, driven by a fierce determination to choose her own destiny. This production brings Jane’s voice to the fore, told in the first person as the intimate account of a life. With its minimalist staging, the production emphasises a sense of closeness with the audience and gives full rein to emotion, the imagination and the power of the text.
